They argue that while recessions are generally bad for business, they can also present opportunities for companies to improve their fortunes. The article cites studies showing that companies that lag behind are twice as likely to overtake industry leaders during a recession, and that the top 10% of companies grew earnings by 17% per year during the last downturn.
